Montarrón is a municipality in Spain, located in the province of Guadalajara within the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. It is a small rural settlement in the central part of the country, in the region historically known as the Alcarria.
The municipality is sparsely populated. As of 2004, its registered population stood at 44 inhabitants, according to data from Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE). This makes Montarrón one of the many small villages that characterize the Guadalajara countryside, where populations are typically counted in the dozens rather than the thousands.
Like other municipalities in the province, Montarrón is administered as a local entity within the Spanish system of municipal government. Its small size and inland location place it within the broader demographic and geographic context of Castile-La Mancha, a large autonomous community that includes some of the least densely populated areas of Spain.
