Carcelén is a municipality in the province of Albacete, in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It is one of the smaller municipalities of the province, with a recorded population of 508.
The town lies within the comarca of La Manchuela, a district in the northeastern part of Albacete province. Like other settlements in this part of Castile-La Mancha, it is situated on the elevated interior plateau of central-eastern Spain, a landscape characterised by open, dry terrain and a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters.
Carcelén's small population reflects the modest scale typical of many rural municipalities in the region. It is located roughly 50 kilometres from the provincial capital, Albacete.
