Puerto de la Cruz is a city and municipality situated on the northern coast of the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. Located approximately 4 km northwest of La Orotava and 30 km west of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the municipality is served by the TF-5 motorway. While it was historically known by its English translation, "Port of the Cross," it is now referred to by its Spanish name in all languages.
The municipality covers an area of 8.73 km² (3 sq mi), making it the smallest municipality on the island of Tenerife. The town center sits at an elevation of 9 meters above sea level, while the highest point in the municipality is Las Arenas, a volcanic cone reaching 249 meters. As of 2018, the population was recorded at 30,483 residents, who are locally known as Portuenses.
