La Matanza de Acentejo is a town situated on the northern coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands of Spain. It is positioned approximately 10 km east of Puerto de la Cruz and roughly 20 km west of the island's capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The name of the town translates to "the Slaughter of Acentejo" in Spanish. This designation refers to the 1494 First Battle of Acentejo, a historical conflict that was lost by the Spanish forces.
