Nuevalos

Spain

Nuevalos is a municipality in the province of Zaragoza, in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It is located in the northeastern part of the country, within the comarca of the Comunidad de Calatayud.

The village lies near the shores of the Embalse de La Tranquera, a reservoir on the Piedra river, and is best known as the gateway to the Monasterio de Piedra, a former Cistercian monastery founded in the 13th century. The monastery's grounds include a large park with waterfalls, grottoes and lakes formed by the Piedra river, which is one of Aragon's most visited natural and historic sites.

Nuevalos itself is a small, quiet settlement whose economy has traditionally been tied to agriculture, though tourism connected to the monastery and the surrounding countryside now plays a significant role. It is reached by road from Calatayud, roughly 25 kilometres to the north.
