Monreal de Ariza is a municipality in the province of Zaragoza, within the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It is located in the comarca of Comunidad de Calatayud, in the western part of the province near the border with the province of Soria.
The municipality is a small, sparsely populated rural settlement typical of the Aragonese interior. According to the 2004 census conducted by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), Monreal de Ariza had a population of 257 inhabitants.
Its name derives from the Spanish "Monreal," meaning "royal mount," a toponym shared with several other towns in Spain, and "de Ariza," which distinguishes it from those namesakes and links it to the nearby town of Ariza. The surrounding landscape forms part of the arid, thinly settled highlands of inland Aragon.
