Cadrete

Spain

Cadrete is a small town in north-east Spain, situated close to Zaragoza in the Aragon region. It lies within the comarca of Zaragoza, in the fertile lowlands of the Ebro basin.

The town is notable for its Muslim castle and its Mudejar church, both surviving witnesses to the area's medieval past under Islamic and later Christian rule. Cadrete is also known for cardoons, a vegetable crop traditionally cultivated in the locality.

In more recent times, a large wind turbine was installed less than 300 metres from the village. According to reports, the installation has caused landscape damage and high noise levels for the town's inhabitants.
