Salar is a municipality in the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, southern Spain. It lies in the western part of the province, within the comarca of the Poniente Granadino, a predominantly agricultural area of rolling terrain and olive groves.
Like many towns in this part of Granada, Salar is a small, compact settlement typical of Andalusian village life, with whitewashed houses and a layout shaped by its agricultural surroundings. The local economy has traditionally centred on farming, particularly the cultivation of olives and other Mediterranean crops suited to the region's dry, warm climate.
Salar is situated roughly midway between the provincial capital, Granada, and the city of Loja, placing it within reach of the wider road and rail connections that serve western Andalusia. Its setting in the Poniente Granadino makes it one of the many modest municipalities that together form the rural fabric of Granada province.
