Rota is a municipality and town located in the Province of Cádiz within the Andalusia region of southern Spain. The municipality covers a surface area of 84 square kilometers and shares borders with the neighboring towns of Chipiona, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and El Puerto de Santa María.
The town is situated near the city of Jerez de la Frontera and is located approximately 36 kilometers from the provincial capital of Cádiz. As of 2009, Rota had a population of 28,516 residents, resulting in a population density of 339 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Rota belongs to two specific regional associations: the Association of Municipalities of Cádiz Bay and the Association of Municipalities of the Lower Guadalquivir. The latter group comprises municipalities located on the Northwest Coast of Andalusia.
