Pechina is a municipality in the Province of Almería, within the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It lies in the lower Andarax river valley, a short distance inland from the provincial capital, Almería.
The town stands on the site of the ancient settlement of Urci. Pechina's history is closely tied to this earlier occupation of the area, which preceded the present municipality.
As a municipality, Pechina forms part of the comarca of the Almería metropolitan area and is one of the smaller towns in the province, situated in a region characterised by its arid landscape and river-valley agriculture.
