Laroya

Spain

Laroya is a municipality in the province of Almería, within the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It is one of the small inland settlements that make up the province's interior, as distinct from the coastal resorts for which Almería is better known.

As a municipality, Laroya forms the basic unit of local administration in Spain, with its own local government responsible for the area's civic affairs. It lies in Andalusia, the largest autonomous community in the country, which occupies the southern portion of the Iberian Peninsula.

The surrounding province of Almería is the easternmost in Andalusia and is characterised by a dry, largely arid landscape. Laroya belongs to this inland setting rather than to the province's Mediterranean coastline.
