Guadalcanal

Spain

Guadalcanal is a village in the province of Seville, within the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It is distinct from the Pacific island of the same name, which is better known internationally.

The settlement lies in the northern part of the province of Seville, in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla area. Like much of inland Andalusia, the surrounding landscape is characterized by rolling hills and a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters.

Guadalcanal is one of the smaller municipalities in the province, with a population of a few thousand residents. Its historic centre retains traditional Andalusian architecture, including whitewashed buildings and a parish church. The local economy has historically been based on agriculture, particularly olive cultivation.
