Gaucín is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. It is situated in the mountains of the region, inland from the coastal resorts of Marbella, Puerto Banús and Estepona, and not far from the inland town of Ronda.
Its location in the Andalusian mountains places it within the mountainous interior of Málaga province rather than on the Costa del Sol coastline, while still lying within reach of the nearby coastal towns. The town is also close to Ronda, another well-known settlement of the province's interior.
