Fuente de Piedra

Spain

Fuente de Piedra is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It lies roughly 19 kilometres from Antequera and about 73 kilometres from Málaga, the provincial capital. The municipality falls within the Antequera judicial district.

The town is best known for the nearby saline lagoon, the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, which is one of the largest natural lakes in the Iberian Peninsula and a significant breeding site for flamingos. The lagoon and its surroundings form a nature reserve that attracts birdwatchers and visitors, particularly during the spring breeding season.

Beyond its natural setting, Fuente de Piedra is a small Andalusian municipality whose economy has traditionally been linked to agriculture and salt extraction from the lagoon. Its location near Antequera places it within easy reach of other historic towns in the region.
