Faraján is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It lies in the Genal valley, west of the city of Málaga, and forms one of the towns that make up the comarca of the Serranía de Ronda.
The municipality is situated approximately 25 kilometers from Ronda and 144 kilometers from the city of Málaga. Its position within the Genal valley places it in the mountainous interior of the province, within the Serranía de Ronda region.
