Écija is a city and municipality in Spain, belonging to the province of Seville within the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is located in the countryside, about 85 kilometres east of the city of Seville.
The river Genil, the main tributary of the Guadalquivir, runs through the city. According to the 2008 census, Écija had a total population of 40,100 inhabitants, making it the fifth most populous municipality in the province of Seville.
