Almuñécar is a Spanish city and municipality situated in the southwestern part of the Costa Granadina region within the province of Granada. Located along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the municipality serves as the capital of the sexitano district.
The territory is bordered by the municipalities of Otívar, Jete, Ítrabo, and Salobreña in Granada, as well as Nerja in Málaga. The Verde River flows through the area. The municipality also encompasses several population centers, including La Herradura, Velilla-Taramay, Torrecuevas, Río Seco, El Rescate, and El Cerval.
