Rasines

Spain

Rasines is a municipality located in the autonomous community of Cantabria, in northern Spain. It lies within the Asón-Agüera comarca, a district in the eastern part of Cantabria, and sits near the boundary with the neighbouring province of Biscay in the Basque Country.

The municipality is made up of several small population centres rather than a single large town, and it is set in a hilly, green landscape typical of Cantabria's inland valleys. The area is drained by the Asón river system, which shapes much of the surrounding terrain.

Rasines is best known for the La Aparecida sanctuary, a religious site that draws visitors to the municipality. Its rural setting and small scale give it the character of a quiet Cantabrian country district rather than an urban centre.
