Noja is a municipality located in the autonomous community of Cantabria, on the northern coast of Spain. It sits in the coastal comarca of Trasmiera, east of Santander and near the town of Santoña.
The municipality is known for its beaches, which face the Bay of Biscay, and for the extensive dune and wetland area behind them. Parts of this natural setting are protected, and the marshes and sand dunes around the mouth of the Asón river attract birdlife and visitors.
Noja is a small, seasonal resort town whose population grows considerably in summer, when holidaymakers come for its shoreline and its position between the coast and the inland hills of Cantabria.
