Taramundi is a municipality in the Principality of Asturias, in northern Spain. It lies in the western part of the region, in an area bordering the province of Lugo in Galicia.
The municipality is bounded on the north by San Tirso de Abres and Vegadeo, on the east by Villanueva de Oscos and Vegadeo, on the south by Santa Eulalia de Oscos and A Pontenova in Lugo, and on the west by Lugo. Its position on the western edge of Asturias places it within the comarca of Oscos-Eo, a rural area of valleys and small settlements.
Taramundi is known for traditional metalworking, particularly knife-making, a craft long associated with the municipality and its surrounding area. It is also recognised for rural tourism, with its landscape of hamlets, woodland and river valleys forming part of the broader Oscos-Eo territory.
