Goizueta

Spain

Goizueta is a town and municipality in the province and autonomous community of Navarre, in northern Spain. It is situated in the mountainous north of the region, in the area of Navarre known as the Bidasoa valley, close to the border with the province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country.

The municipality is made up of a small town centre together with a number of scattered rural settlements and farmsteads spread across its hilly terrain. The surrounding landscape is characterised by green, wooded slopes and narrow valleys typical of the Atlantic climate zone of northern Navarre, an area with high annual rainfall.

Goizueta is one of the municipalities of Navarre in which the Basque language, Euskara, is spoken alongside Spanish. Its economy has traditionally been based on agriculture and livestock farming, particularly cattle raising and forestry, reflecting the rural character of this part of the region.
