Arroniz

Spain

Arróniz is a town and municipality in the province and autonomous community of Navarre, in northern Spain. It is located in the Estella Oriental area of Navarre, within the Merindad of Estella.

The town sits at an elevation of roughly 560 metres above sea level, in a landscape of rolling hills and farmland typical of the Navarrese countryside. Its historic centre includes the Church of San Salvador, a large parish church dating mainly from the 16th century, and the 18th-century town hall. The surrounding municipality covers about 55 square kilometres and includes several small settlements and country houses.

Arróniz lies on the Camino de Santiago's French Way, the pilgrimage route that crosses Navarre toward Santiago de Compostela, and it has long served as a stopping point for travellers. The local economy has traditionally been based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of grapes and olives, along with cereals and other crops.
