Viguera is a municipality in the La Rioja region of northern Spain. It is located in the autonomous community of La Rioja, in the Ebro river valley area of the country.
The municipality includes the villages of Castañares de las Cuevas, El Puente, and Panzares, in addition to the main settlement of Viguera itself. This means the municipal territory covers several distinct population centres rather than a single town.
As a municipality in La Rioja, Viguera forms part of the local administrative structure of the region, which is one of Spain's seventeen autonomous communities and is divided into 174 municipalities.
