Azofra is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of La Rioja, Spain. It is located in the north of the country, within the Ebro Valley region that defines La Rioja's geography and climate.
Like other settlements in La Rioja, Azofra is a small municipality whose administrative status is defined at the local level within Spain's system of autonomous communities. La Rioja itself is one of Spain's smallest and most sparsely populated autonomous communities, situated in the north-central part of the country.
Azofra is also known as a stopping point on the Camino de Santiago, the historic pilgrimage route that crosses La Rioja on its way toward Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. The town lies on the French Way, the most heavily travelled branch of the route, which passes through a series of small Riojan towns and villages.
