Escorca

Spain

Escorca is a municipality located in the northwest of Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It forms part of the Serra de Tramuntana, the mountainous range that runs along the island's northwestern coast.

It is one of the largest and least densely populated municipalities on Mallorca, with its territory made up largely of rugged mountain terrain rather than a single concentrated urban centre. The municipality encompasses scattered hamlets and rural areas spread across the slopes and valleys of the range.

Escorca is best known for its mountainous landscape, which includes some of the highest peaks on Mallorca, as well as the Santuari de Lluc, a historic monastery and pilgrimage site that is among the most visited landmarks in the Serra de Tramuntana. The area's scenery and religious heritage make it a notable destination within the island's interior.
