Hato Mayor del Rey is the capital city of the Hato Mayor Province located in the Dominican Republic. It serves as a regional center situated approximately 27 kilometers from the San Pedro de Macorís Province and 110 kilometers from the national capital, Santo Domingo.
The city is bordered by several neighboring municipalities: El Valle and Sabana de la Mar to the north, the San Pedro de Macorís Province to the south, El Seibo Province to the east, and the municipality of Bayaguana in Monte Plata to the west. The local population is recorded at 70,141 inhabitants.
The administrative area of Hato Mayor del Rey is divided into three distinct municipal districts: Yerba Buena, Guayabo Dulce, and Mata Palacio.
