Lichtenberg

Germany

Lichtenberg is a municipality in the district of Mittelsachsen, in the state of Saxony, Germany. It lies in the eastern part of the country, within the federal state known for its historic towns and its share of the Ore Mountains region.

As a municipality rather than a large city, Lichtenberg forms part of the local administrative structure of Mittelsachsen, one of Saxony's districts. The surrounding area is predominantly rural, with the district seat and larger towns providing services and connections for its residents.

Its position in Saxony places it within a region that borders the Czech Republic to the south and is served by a network of roads and railways linking it to cities such as Chemnitz and Dresden. The municipality is one of several places in Germany bearing the name Lichtenberg, and it should not be confused with the Berlin locality of the same name.
