Petra is a former village in Cyprus that is now uninhabited and largely destroyed. Located east of the town of Lefka and just north of the Green Line, the settlement is situated in the northern part of the island.
De facto, Petra is under the control of Northern Cyprus. The village's current status as an abandoned and largely ruined settlement reflects the broader divisions and conflicts that have affected Cyprus since the 1974 Turkish invasion and the establishment of the Green Line, the buffer zone that separates the Republic of Cyprus from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
