Caldas

Colombia

Caldas is a town and municipality in the Department of Boyacá, Colombia. It forms part of the Western Boyacá Province, one of the subregions into which the department is divided.

The municipality is situated in the Andean interior of central-eastern Colombia, within Boyacá, a department known for its highland terrain and colonial-era settlements. As both a town and a municipality, Caldas comprises its urban centre together with the surrounding rural area under a single municipal administration.

Caldas shares its name with several other places in Colombia and elsewhere, including the city of Caldas in the neighbouring department of Antioquia and the department of Caldas in the country's coffee-growing region. The Boyacá municipality is distinct from these, being defined by its location within Boyacá and its membership of the Western Boyacá Province.
