Sucre is a town and municipality in the Sucre Department of northern Colombia. It lies in the subregion of the Mojana, alongside the municipalities of Majagual and Guaranda.
The municipality forms part of the geographical area known as the Moposine depression, a zone characterized by land that sits below sea level. Because of this low elevation, the area is prone to flooding.
