Yantai, formerly known as Chefoo, is a coastal prefecture-level city located on the Shandong Peninsula in China. Situated on the southern coast of the Bohai Strait, the city is bordered by Qingdao to the southwest and Weihai to the east. It maintains sea access to both the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea.
The city serves as the largest fishing seaport in the Shandong province. As of the 2020 census, Yantai had a population of 7,102,116 residents. Of this total, 3,184,299 people resided within the built-up area comprised of five urban districts: Zhifu, Laishan, Fushan, Muping, and Penglai.
