Xikou

China

Xikou is a town in the Chongqing region of the People's Republic of China. It should not be confused with the better-known Xikou in Zhejiang province.

As a settlement within Chongqing, Xikou forms part of one of China's four direct-controlled municipalities, a large and largely mountainous administrative area in the country's southwest. The municipality is centred on the city of Chongqing on the Yangtze River and is divided into numerous districts and counties, within which towns such as Xikou serve as local administrative units.

Detailed published information about this particular Xikou is limited, and its most notable characteristic for readers is simply its name, which it shares with the Zhejiang town of the same name. That other Xikou lies in Fenghua District, Zhejiang, about 39 kilometres west of Ningbo, and is known as the birthplace and ancestral home of Chiang Kai-shek.
