Qingyuan is a district of Chongqing, China. It lies in the southeastern part of the municipality, along the Yangtze River, and forms one of the city's outlying urban areas rather than part of its central core.
Like other districts of Chongqing, it falls under the direct administration of the municipality, which is one of China's four province-level municipalities. The surrounding terrain is hilly and mountainous, characteristic of the region, and the district is connected to the rest of Chongqing by road and river links along the Yangtze.
Note that a separate and much larger prefecture-level city named Qingyuan also exists in Guangdong province, and the two are frequently confused. The subject of this article is the Chongqing district, not the Guangdong city.
