Nantong is a prefecture-level city located in the southeastern region of Jiangsu province, China. Situated on the northern bank of the Yangtze River near its mouth, the city serves as a vital river port and holds a strategic geographical position.
The city shares borders with Yancheng to the north, Taizhou to the west, and the East China Sea to the east. Across the Yangtze River to the south, it is situated near the cities of Suzhou, Wuxi, and Shanghai. As of the 2020 census, Nantong had a total population of 7,726,635, with over 3.7 million residents living within its three urban districts.
