Gaoping is a county-level city located in the southeastern region of Shanxi Province, China. It operates under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Jincheng.
The city possesses a long history dating back to the Warring States period. A portion of the area was historically known as Changping, which served as the site of a significant battle in 260 BCE between the rival states of Qin and Zhao.
