Chengdong is a district of Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province in northwest China. It is one of the four districts that make up the prefecture-level city of Xining.
The name "Chengdong" means "east of the city," reflecting its position on the eastern side of Xining's urban core. As a district-level administrative division, it forms part of the municipal structure through which Xining is governed and is counted among the city's four constituent districts.
Note that Chengdong is distinct from places bearing the same or similar names elsewhere in China, including Chengdong District in the Chongqing region. The Chengdong described here is specifically the district of Xining in Qinghai Province.
