Yongchang

China

Yongchang is a town in Mianyang, in the Sichuan region of China, and serves as the new county seat of Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County. It lies between Yong'an Town and Anchang Town of An County, roughly 23 kilometres (14 miles) from Beichuan's former county seat.

The town's name is a combination of the names of those two neighbouring towns, Yong'an and Anchang, and means "eternal prosperity" in Chinese. Yongchang was established as the county seat after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, which struck Beichuan among the worst-hit areas. Construction at the site has included housing, schools, government buildings and hospitals.
