Wuquan is a city in the Sichuan region of China. It is located in the eastern part of Sichuan province, in the Sichuan Basin, a fertile and densely populated region of southwestern China.
The city is situated in an area characterized by the low hills and level terrain typical of the basin, and it lies within the broader network of settlements that make up one of China's major agricultural and urban regions. Like much of Sichuan, the surrounding area is known for its humid, cloudy climate and mild winters.
Wuquan should not be confused with Wuquan Mountain, a separate feature located in southern Lanzhou in Gansu province, far to the northwest. That mountain takes its name from a legend concerning the Western Han general Huo Qubing, who is said to have struck the ground five times with his horsewhip, producing five springs.
