Fanyang is a town in the Hainan region of southern China. It lies in the northern part of Hainan Island, within the area administered as part of the island's northern counties, in a landscape of low hills and farmland typical of the region.
The settlement is best known for its historical association with the Tang dynasty official and poet Li Deyu, who was exiled to Hainan in the ninth century and is linked in local tradition to Fanyang. The town has also been noted as the birthplace of several figures in Chinese Communist Party history, and a memorial site there commemorates them.
Fanyang remains a small agricultural town rather than a major tourist destination. It is reached by road from Haikou, the provincial capital, roughly an hour's drive to the north.
