Jiaobei

China

Jiaobei is a town in the Guangdong region of southern China. It is located in the province's western area, within the administrative boundaries of a surrounding county-level jurisdiction, and sits in a landscape of low hills and river valleys typical of the region. The town serves as a local administrative and market centre for the villages around it.

Like much of western Guangdong, the area around Jiaobei has an economy based largely on agriculture, with rice cultivation and subtropical crops such as fruit and sugarcane among the main activities. The town's population is predominantly Han Chinese, and Cantonese is the main local language, reflecting the wider cultural patterns of the province.

Jiaobei is not a major tourist destination and is not widely known outside its immediate region. Its name is shared with the crescent-shaped wooden divination blocks used in Chinese folk religion, but the town itself is a separate and distinct place with no established connection to that practice.
