Hudong is a town in Guangdong Province in southern China. It is located in the eastern part of the province, within Jieyang municipality, and lies near the coast facing the South China Sea. The surrounding area forms part of the Chaoshan region, a coastal strip of Guangdong known for its distinct local culture and dialect.
The town is administratively a town (zhen) under the jurisdiction of Huilai County, which is itself administered by the city of Jieyang. It sits close to the border with Shantou, one of the major cities of eastern Guangdong, and the wider area is connected by road to the provincial highway network linking Shantou, Jieyang and Chaozhou.
Hudong is one of several settlements in China sharing the name, and it should not be confused with the former Hudong Baike, a Chinese online encyclopedia founded in 2005 that was later renamed Douyin Baike. The town itself is a small coastal settlement whose economy and daily life are tied to the surrounding Guangdong littoral.
