Dongba

China

Dongba is a town in Guangdong Province in southern China. It is located in the province's inland region, within the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Heyuan, in the county of Dongyuan. It lies in the hilly terrain of northern Guangdong, an area drained by tributaries of the Dong River system.

The settlement is a small administrative town rather than a major urban centre, and it functions as a local seat for the surrounding rural communities. Its economy is based chiefly on agriculture and related rural activity, typical of the inland townships of the region. The surrounding countryside is characterised by low mountains, terraced fields and scattered villages.

Dongba should not be confused with the Dongba religion and priesthood of the Nakhi people of southwest China, which share the same name but are unrelated to this Guangdong town. The town is connected to neighbouring areas by local roads and is some distance from Guangdong's main coastal cities.
