Chang'an

China

Chang'an is a town in Guangdong Province, in southern China. It lies within the Dongguan administrative area in the Pearl River Delta, a densely industrialised region of the province. It should not be confused with the historic Chang'an that served as the capital of several Chinese dynasties in Shaanxi Province.

The town is part of Dongguan, a prefecture-level city that grew rapidly from the late twentieth century as a manufacturing centre. Chang'an is one of Dongguan's more prominent towns, with an economy based largely on electronics, hardware, and other light manufacturing, and it hosts a large number of factories and industrial parks.

It is connected to the wider region by road and by the intercity rail network linking Dongguan with Guangzhou and Shenzhen. As with much of the Pearl River Delta, the population includes a substantial number of migrant workers from other parts of China.
