Wuxia is a district-level city in the Tianjin municipality of northern China. It lies in the eastern part of the municipality, on the North China Plain, roughly between Tianjin's central urban area and the border with Hebei province. It is one of several district-level divisions that make up the Tianjin municipality, which is governed directly by the central government rather than as part of a province.
The city shares its name with the wuxia genre of Chinese fiction, a form of historical fantasy about the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. That genre has been adapted into Chinese opera, manhua, television dramas, films, donghua, and video games, and forms part of popular culture in many Chinese-speaking communities worldwide. The name coincidence is unrelated to the city itself.
