Potou

China

Potou is a district of Zhanjiang, a city at the southwestern end of Guangdong province in the People's Republic of China. It lies in the Leizhou Peninsula area, facing Hainan to the south. The district is known in Chinese as 坡头区 (Pōtóu qū); its name also appears in local romanizations such as Leizhou Min Pho-thôu kheu and Jyutping Bo1tau4 keoi1.

As one of the administrative divisions of Zhanjiang, Potou forms part of the city's urban and coastal structure on the peninsula. Its position near the southern tip of Guangdong places it close to the Qiongzhou Strait, the waterway separating the mainland from Hainan Island.
