Yancheng

China

Yancheng is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu province on China's eastern coast. It borders Lianyungang to the north, Huai'an to the west, Yangzhou and Taizhou to the southwest, and Nantong to the south, with the Yellow Sea to the east. It was formerly known as Yandu and was formerly a county; the present city was established on January 18, 1983.

Yancheng has the largest jurisdictional area of any city in Jiangsu. Its position on the Yellow Sea gives it a coastal orientation within the province, and it sits within a chain of neighbouring prefecture-level cities that together make up much of northern and central Jiangsu.
