Fenghuangcheng

China

Fenghuangcheng is a town in Shanxi Province, China. It is located in the southeastern part of the province, within the Taihang Mountains region, and is administratively part of Jincheng, a prefecture-level city. The settlement lies in a mountainous area known for its rugged terrain and traditional stone architecture.

The town is best known for its well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, including temples, courtyards, and defensive walls that reflect its history as a regional commercial and cultural center. Its name, meaning "Phoenix City," is shared with several other places in China, but this Shanxi town is distinct from the better-known Fenghuang in Hunan Province.

Fenghuangcheng remains a small, quiet settlement, with a local economy based on agriculture and, more recently, tourism drawn to its historical architecture and mountain setting.
