Fangsong is a town in the Shanghai region of China. It lies within the Songjiang area, in the southwestern part of the municipality, and is one of the settlements that make up the wider Shanghai conurbation rather than a separate city in its own right.
Like much of the surrounding region, Fangsong sits on the low, flat plain of the Yangtze delta, a landscape shaped by centuries of silt deposition and intensive cultivation. The area shares the humid subtropical climate typical of Shanghai, with hot, wet summers and cool, damp winters.
The town is connected to central Shanghai and neighbouring districts by road and by the metro network that serves the municipality's outer districts. Its position within the Shanghai region places it close to the industrial and residential development that has spread outward from the city core.
