Xinlin is a de facto district of Daxing'anling Prefecture in Heilongjiang province, China. It is not an official administrative entity; de jure, the area falls under the jurisdiction of Huma County. This arrangement reflects the unusual administrative structure of the Daxing'anling region, where prefecture-level management and county-level jurisdiction do not always coincide.
The name Xinlin is also shared by other places in China, including a town in Yunnan province, so the district should not be confused with those unrelated locations. The Xinlin described here is specifically the Daxing'anling entity in the far northeast of the country, near the border with Russia.
Because Xinlin is not a formally recognized district, it lacks the official status and administrative standing of a standard county-level division. Its governance operates through the prefecture rather than as a self-standing unit, while formal legal jurisdiction remains with Huma County.
