Xinzhou is a prefecture-level city in the People's Republic of China. Its ancient name was Xiurong. It occupies the north-central section of Shanxi Province, bordering Hebei to the east, Shaanxi to the west, and Inner Mongolia to the northwest.
As of 2022, Xinzhou had a permanent population of 2,655,563. Its position at the junction of several provincial and regional boundaries makes it a meeting point between Shanxi and the neighbouring areas of Hebei, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia.
